Nativity scene-DIY

Hello friends

We are back with a recycled project based on Christmas. So we came up with a tutorial on making a Nativity scene as Christmas is approaching, what could be more appropriate.

Materials used-

Christmas bell -2 (2.5 inch long)

Fevicryl Shilpkar clay-1 

Fevicryl acrylic paints

Fevicol

Aluminium foil

Ice-cream sticks

Glue gun

Old Cardboard

Process

Mix the two parts of the Shilpkar clay to form a even colored clay.

 Take 2 big parts from the clay mixture for making shawl, 2 small parts for head, 2 small parts for hands and keep the remaining aside.

With the big part, make flat circle with old cardboard roll just like you make chapathis. This will form the shawl.

Take some aluminum foil and crush it to form round shape for the head, cover the foil ball with Shilpkar clay. Repeat the same process to get 2 big heads and 1 small head for baby Jesus.

Make hands for Joseph and Mary, stick with help of fevicol or glue gun for sturdiness. Cut an old pen refill into 3 inch length, this will form the stick for Joseph. Place the stick in his right hand.

With remaining clay, roll them into long thin rolls to form hair.

Now assemble the head, hair, hands and shawl and stick with fevicol.

Moving to baby Jesus, make shawl just like you did above. Take the remaining clay and make cylindrical shape for the body, stick the head to body and then cover with shawl. 

With some cardboard and ice-cream sticks, make  a shed.

Take some jute cord, wrap it around the ice-cream stick box (as shown in the pic) to form the barn where the baby is placed.

Let them dry.

Baby Jesus, ain't it cute!!!

Now paint everything white with acrylic paint. Let it dry.

Now paint with colors of your choice.

Add a star on top of shed.

Give them a coat of varnish if you desire.

Ta da.... our Nativity scene is done.

Season's Greetings

Quilled Greeting Card

Hello friends

We are back with a greeting card.
We have made this card to enter Calling All Sistahs Challenge. This is our last minute entry for the same. We had exams. it just got over today and we made it quickly so that we could enter the challenge. We were inspired by the image.

Your wings already exist, all you have to do is FLY

We have made a fairy, whose top part is covered with washi tape. The bottom part is made with Quilled comb technique. We added small pearls to her bun for an interest.

Quilled Shadow Box

Hello friends

We are back with a new post, this time we have created a quilled shadow box. We have repurposed the box which came with tealight candle that we received during Diwali. As soon as they were used and about to be dumped by our mom, an idea struck us, why not use it in some project. So we saved it and wanted to do a quilled diorama in it.
We have made it to gift our close friend whose favorite color is purple. We hope she likes it

We were inspired by the colors of the IQGC. So, we have incorporated all the four colors in this creation.  We have done beehive technique for the leaves, quilled tendrils for the hair, loose coil for the tree and tight coils for the flowers and the girl. 

Though we had the base (shadow box) ready, we had to cover it with white sheet. The tricky part was assembling and sticking the girl on the swing to the tree. We wanted to give dimensions to the tree, so we formed clusters of beehive coils and stuck them in 2-3 layers. We hope you can see the layers. We have used ice cream stick for the swing and embroidery floss to hang the swing to the tree.

Though it consumed a lot of time, we are happy with the outcome.

Hello friends

We are back with a new post, this time it is bookmarks.

                                                 

 We often read books and then forget where we left. So,it was useful to make some bookmarks and these are fun and easy to make(as exams are approaching us).  

We bought this washi tape from Itsy Bitsy, we love chevron prints, so we bought them without thinking twice. This corner bookmark was easy to make.
