Sharing a card after a hiatus... Did you miss us?

Last week was hard on us, but glad things are better now. And we could find some me- time 🖍️🎨

Popup box card (Old Habits Die card)

Hello everyone,

This card was made as a part of Old Habits Die Card Instagram Hop!  If you are on Instagram, we encourage you to check out the hop here.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of @claires_card_on joining Instagram she put out a challenge to us all: look back at a project we made at least one year ago and update it! Think of all the knowledge you gain in one year, new techniques you've tried, supplies you've purchased... The goal was to take a project that makes you cringe and make it into something you're proud to show off.

 We made pop-up box card 2 years ago, back then we were pretty new to cardmaking,so didn't have pattern papers or dies. So, we stamped and did some ink blending over the edges. The balloon was stamped earlier.

Though we like the older card, but the coloring makes us cringe. We like the newer version better.

But, now, we used our pattern papers and balloon die for pop- up element.

Our coloring has improved over the years, still a long way to go. Earlier, we used pencil colors. We used brush pens to watercolor now.

Yugadi

Hello everyone,

We are back sharing a card for Yugadi. 

It's the first day of new year as per hindu lunar calendar.Yugadi - yuga + aadi: first day of this creation cycle.

Starting of spring season in India. 

Many Indians celebrate Ugadi/ Gudi Padwa/ Tamil New Year as per their region. Yellow flowers and mango leaves are generally used to decorate the door. Some people even draw rangoli at the doorstep and decorate it with flowers or color powders. Hence, we have used yellow flowers and green leaves to signify the same.

Celebrating the change in the nature,  new season.This is mango season in India, cuckoos  season as we hear a lot of cuckoo bird voice in this season. New fresh leaves and flowers bloom in trees.

Rituals include:

Get up early,

Take oil bath,

God pooja, cow pooja, 

Eat bevu-bella, festival food with raw mango dishes, 

Food should consist of all 6 tastes.

Panchanga shravan (hearing coming year predictions)

Few people remember their ancestors and do pitru pooja also on this day.

Yugala - dual: welcome the new year with accepting both good and bad with a positive thought. Psychologically very important  aspect to welcome a new year, makes up mind to face both good and bad in coming year.

Neem and jaggery eating together represents the same. (Both are Ayurveda medicinal , good for health to keep body cool)

Eating all 6 tastes in food (in a proportional way) is to balance 3 doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) in the body as per ayurveda. This how Indian food culture helped in keeping the health of people.

Panchanga: it is not just a "calendar", where just the year, month, days and holidays are specified.  Panchanga will not only have lunar based, solar based months, days, festivals,  mentioned, it mentions even smaller time units in a day called as muhurta, yoga, karana etc., which are used in many indian rituals. Panchanga gives details of upcoming eclipse details accurately!!

Also, star position based rain prediction - which was helpful for farmers to plan their  field activities.

 Have you ever experienced "Love at first sight"?💖 We have experienced it..... not with a person 🤭, but with this stamp from April release by @varadasharma 

Although felt intimidated coloring this image, we are happy with the outcome! Made square shaped card for a change.

Growing in Unity-Day 5

Hello everyone!

Sharing our card for Day 5 as Growing in Unity gal. We thoroughly enjoyed creating using Unity Stamps.

Have you ever CASEd your own card? For those who don't know what CASE is, it is- Copy And Selectively Edit. For this card, we CASEd our previous card design, swapped the image and color combo! You can check our earlier card here. 

We love how this die beautifully pairs with @unitystampco Planner Gals, so went ahead with Love them stamp for this card. Yellow and red is evergreen color combo, hence without doubt, chose to cut the floral frame from yellow cardstock and paired with red rhinestones. 

Finished it off with sentiment!!

Tada, our card is ready!!
