Silhouette painting on popsicle sticks

Hello friends

We are back with a simple craft that is easy and fun to make.  Our love for silhouette painting started when we were in school and we had to make many paintings for our art class. Silhouette painting had a unique charm in it that attracted us towards it. (It was also fast to complete than other paintings.) We had seen some paintings done on popsicle sticks and we liked it, so thought why not give it a try.

We have to admit that making it was so much fun. You have to try it to believe it. Trying silhouette painting after so many years made us nostalgic of my school days. The best part about this painting is that you don’t have to be a artist to make it as it is just the outline of the image that you have to draw. So no excuses not to try your hands at it.

So lets get started,

Things required:
Popsicle sticks (9+2)
Acrylic paints
Paint brushes
Glue
Pencil/ Permanent marker

Method
Start by arranging nine popsicle sticks one below the other.
Then apply glue on two other popsicle sticks and stick it on the edges.
Gently press it and leave it to dry until sturdy.
Draw the design with black marker on the popsicle stick. OR If you are good at drawing, you can start painting the background, let it dry and then draw the design with pencil.
Paint the background with a color you desire, probably a lighter color, then paint with a darker color blending both the color in the middle.
After the base is dry, paint the main design with black color with a fine tip brush.
Let it dry.
And voila, your silhouette painting is ready.

Floral Shaker Card

Hello friends

Hope you are having a great weekend.
This time we tried our hands at something we had never made before-a Shaker card. It was in our to-do list for a long time and we finally made it. Yay, we are quite happy with the outcome. We spent a lot of time in figuring out how to go about it. We wanted to participate in few challenges, so combining them into a card which had all of the elements was quite challenging for us. But we overcome all those hurdles and here we are with our shaker card.

We have used a floral pattern paper as love for flowers never fails. We used some gold sequins as the shaker element. To finish it off, we used floral punches and quilled butterfly. To add oomph factor, we added some half pearls.

Quilled Earring

Hi everyone

The one thing that all ladies have in common, across all the ages and across the continents is ........... yes, you guessed it right, it is shopping. We all love shopping, don't we, do we need reasons to shop?
What is the first thing that comes to our mind when we think about shopping? For us, the image that comes to our mind is going through the busy streets of a market or checking out different brands in a mall, trying to get the best clothes. And we don't mind spending hours choosing the best one. And now that we have bought our favorite clothes, we need accessories to complete the look. Earrings and statement neck-pieces form a big part of accessories, well atleast in our case.

Making your own earrings is the best thing one could think of ever as one can customise it to their preferences, be it color, deign or the length, especially when one can't find the right accessories to pair with the outfit.

Here's what we made to match our outfit.

A glimpse of quilled earring

We have worked out magic with strips of paper using quilling, a technique which transforms mere strips of paper into wonderful pieces of art. The design has been inspired from the net, though it is not exactly the same.

We made quite a number of earrings during the first and second year of our bachelors degree to match  with our clothes, some of which we have already posted in our blog.  We will update others in the upcoming posts.

Take a look at these quilled earrings:

Cute Owl Pen Stand

Hello crafty peeps,

Let's face it, all of us fall short of pen stands to store our color markers, pens, pencils and paint brushes. It saves us a ton of time in sorting things out and makes crafting a lot more easier and faster. Organization is a big part of time management. I guess you all would agree with us on this.

Today, we want to share a cute owl pen stand with you. This is a simple and kid friendly project. You can make it in an hour if all items are in hand. We love to make recycled crafts, and this is our latest addition to the list. We have used old CDs and even the paper used to cover CDs are reused ( it was used in our assignment).

So, without further ado, let's look at owl pen stand.
